Past Events

 A Group Discussion Competition was organized by Comhub on 18th October, 2016. The event was conducted and sponsored by ICFAI BUSSINESS SCHOOL (IBS) .The competition was held in two rounds. The bests were selected from initial round and stepped forward to the final round. Winners were awarded with cash prizes.

GROUP DISCUSSION

'Sharing warmth' was not only an outcome of brilliant coordination and cooperation of the team members but also an endeavor of the association to contribute towards the societal welfare. This event was an initiative to provide the impoverished with packed food items, clothes or any necessary item for existence. 'Sharing warmth' was heartly commenced on 16th January, 2017. Boxes were placed near amphitheatre so that the generous can give their contribution. Offerings as much as 20 boxes along with a few polybags weighing about 200 kgs were gratefully received. Not limiting itself to just donating the basic amenities to an organization, the team itself distributed the items near AIIMS, Safdarjung construction site, at Nizamuddin and at other random places.

SHARING WARMTH

On 14th,15th and 16th september, Comhub conducted a book donation camp and therefore invited all the students of the college to donate new or old text books for the college library book bank so that they can be issued to students.

BOOK DONATION CAMP

The academic year took a beautiful start with the Orientation programme  conducted by the representative society of Dyal Singh Evening College, the 'Comhub' on 16th August 2016, for the first year students. As the Orientation was the introduction to the Commerce Department of this college, the students were enlightened on the workings of Comhub which helped the commerce association to choose some gems for the team this year.

ORIENTATION 

An Educational visit to SEBI on 12th January, 2017 for the final year students of B.com and B.com hons was conducted in which the speakers were Manish Vashist, AGM and Ravi Jaiswal, Manager. A presentation was shown on the topics of SEBI Rules and Guidelines, Stock market, Frauds in dealings, Types of securities, Investment in shares.

DEBATE- "TODAY INDIa needs more entrepreneurs than managers"

A debate competition was organized for commerce students on 7th October, 2016. The topic for the debate was "Today India needs more entrepreneurs than managers". Each participant had to speak for atleast 3 minutes plus one extra minute for conclusion. After the speech of each candidate there was at most one interjection allowed from the audience. All the participants very precisely put forward their thoughts about the topic and no aspect of the topic was left undiscussed.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The department under the able guidance of Principal, Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma organised a two day UGC sponsored NATIONAL CONFERENCE on "Emerging Trends and Contemporary Issues in Finance". Thirty-three articles were received and presented by participants from twenty five institutions of India and abroad in four technical sessions on 29th march 2016 and 30th March 2016. Various eminent professors and seasons industry practitioners graced the conference with their presence as speakers, chairpersons and judges. Conference proceedings was also published and distributed during the conference. 

Keeping in mind  the need for choosing appropriate career option timely,On December,18 Comhub conducted a seminar on "CS as a Career" For which Miss Reena from The Institute of Company Secretariat of India was invited.
She explained "Why could be CS a good career option?" "What are the requirements for the same?" "What are the job opportunities?" 
The seminar was successful in terms of making students clear every sort of doubt for taking CS as a Career option.

The Department in association with the English Department and 'RAITEL' (a public sector undertaking) organised a debate competition on the topic:
' Vigilance does lead to good governance' on 29th October, 2015. The audiences got to know benefits as well as limitations of vigilance like those who are vigil are always aware and always thinking and on the contrary vigilance is a crude and un-evolved way of thinking. With extremely commendable speeches the day marked another full steam event.

Shri Varun Malhotra, Director of Edge Institute for Financial Studies Private Limited, was invited to give a very interesting talk on " Wealth Management and Investment in the stock market" on 6th October, 2015. He explained the magic of compounding, that is how investment can create substantial wealth. He stressed upon the need to build substantial long term wealth sources through creation of systematic investment plan for future requirements.
